Christmas Cuddles
In a little town called Selphia in the kingdom of Norad, it was a tradition to celebrate Christmas with someone you love. Leon was fortunate enough to have found one such someone by the name of Leanne. Like him, she had slept for countless years while time passed her by. Unlike him, Leanne's entire world was lost to her, her entire race, the forest where she was born, the very rock and soil... all of it gone. Not even Venti, the native dragon, god, and guardian of Selphia could determine how she found herself lost in the forests outside Leon Karnak, so close to where he'd slept for thousands of years untold. It simply seemed destiny drew them together.
Leon was the only one who knew how to speak the ancient language because it was a hobby in his youth. Yet even in his time period it was seldom used, so it was a miracle anyone could speak with her at all. Still, in time she came to speak the same language as everyone else, and Venti insisted on having Leanne live at the village. It seemed as though she possessed the natural talents of an Earthmate, yet she was even more gentle and fragile than little Amber.
Everyday Leanne and Leon would meet so he could translate for her and teach her. Everyday they became closer through his good natured teasing, and her learning to stand on her own two feet. She could now easily recognize when he was lying about what someone was saying just to see if she'd believe him. She might have been able to read his heart to find that out too, but the one time she had tried that, he was able to sense it and became rather cross.
Their powers were very similar, but still rather different.

Leanne was for a long felt an undying loneliness that no matter how much time Leon spent with her. Eventually he became her sole source of companionship... Which made it hurt a little when he became cross with her.
It soon became Christmas... She was laying across the couch, watching the fire and singing softly. She was happy and content with her life now with Leon. She had a small gift for him, she was waiting to give him, a small pendant necklace, embedded with some of her magic.

"You know, if you sing too close to a fireplace, your music will catch on fire. Have you ever smelled burnt music? It's quite unpleasant." He leaned backwards and offered her a hot cocoa in one outstretched hand.
"Almost as unpleasant as cocoa with milk and sugar." Yes, Leon had weird tastes and was being quite silly.

She accepts the gift of hot chocolate and takes a small sip.
"So nasty. This is the worst." She crinkle her nose.
A small hand goes to pat thevspit next to her. "Sit with me, Leon."

...
Was he serious? He said it so seriously it was hard to tell, yet at the sams time it was so ridiculous. He was apparently planning to stay an enigma on this matter until Leanne questioned it.

She speaks in just as much as a serious tone as him, winking.
She chuckles as he speaks about both roles, allowing him to ramble. She moves in to cuddle him a little bit as he sits next to her.
Her eyes widen as the blanket appears and he wraps the both of them in it. She goes to let out relaxed sigh, cuddling and nuzzling a bit more.
"I know nought of it, my lord Leon."

He shook his head, trying to get the bad taste of the word lord out of his mouth. "Where was I? Ah yes, Christmas! This holiday originally started out as a young lover's holiday in Selphia. The tradition is that the two lovebirds make a wish on a star, and if they wished for the same thing without knowing it, it'd come true. As the years went on it became a holiday for all kinds of love, but it's still celebrated in this town as the tradition began."

She cuddles even more. "That sounds so romantic... Is there a girl that you would like to be your lover?" She speaks idly, fingers running over the package holding the pendant. She goes to try and be sneakily placing her gift into his lap.

...
Did he just say that out loud? Well... the damage was done anyways, so he was just going to pretend that was a totally natural thing to say. Unfortunately... Leanne's question stirred up unpleasant memories. "There once was a girl who wanted to be mine... but I didn't share the same feelings for her. She was always my closest friend and I used to tease her relentlessly because she was such a crybaby. I told her, 'if you don't stop crying all the time, you'll never get a husband.' From that day on she never cried again, not even when she fell and hurt herself, or when she was sick, and not even when I was getting ready to give my life to the spell that would preserve Venti with my life force until a solution could be found. She was so close to crying that day, but she smiled, trying to reassure me that she would wait for me however long it took. I... I didn't want her to wait for me, I knew that there was a chance it could take thousands of years, but she was..."
Leon pulled Leanne a little closer, the pain that Leanne once felt in his heart nearly completely bleeding through to the surface and into his voice. "I found her diary buried near the ruins where I was buried. She still never cried for decades after I was gone, not even when her parents died, and people thought she was a cold person. She wasn't... she really wasn't... she was just..." Leon was crying now, trying his best not to let it show.
"I'm sorry Leanne... I know it's silly of me when you lost your whole world, but I just can't help missing her, and wondering sometimes if I'm a horrible person. Even now I wouldn't want to marry her, but I still love her like she was a little sister to me." He laced his fingers with hers, possibly the one person in the world who could know what it's like to have left everything they've ever known behind without any chance of it coming back.
(ooc: Wow... I'm sorry... Rune Factory 4 is the heartbreak to happy feels train of doom.)

But then he pours out his heart to her and then the sight and scent of his tears. "Leon...."
She moves a wing to cup him within it. "She loved you and it isn't your fault... and it's okay to miss her." She goes to reach up with her hand to try and pet his ears. She moves away to try and coach his head to rest against her chest.
"It's okay... It's okay to still wish that and miss her. That love will never go away. Never.... It is good that you keep her in your heart." She coos and goes to give his cheek a small kiss.
